Andar Bahar Guide: How The Game Works And What The Odds Really Are

Andar Bahar is the simplest live table in any Indian casino lobby: one joker card, two sides, and cards dealt until a match appears.
The rules
A joker card is drawn, then cards are dealt alternately to the Andar and Bahar sides until one matches the joker's rank.
The side that receives the first card has a very slightly higher chance of winning, which is why payouts differ between sides.
Side bets and edge
Bets on how many cards will be dealt look attractive but carry a much higher house margin than the main side bet.
The main bet is close to an even-money proposition and is the sensible default.
FAQs
Is Andar or Bahar more likely to win?
The side dealt first has a marginal edge, reflected in the payout difference.
Can card counting help?
No meaningful edge exists in a shuffled multi-deck live game.
